E2E Story – Continuous learning and upskilling is necessary

Pirot: A text entitled: "Meet Our Team" was published on the FB page of the Pirot Job Info centre, partner on the "Education to Employment" project. It is following this information that we are now presenting career counsellor Mila Lazić at our website.

Ever since 2021 when she became a graduated teacher of the English Language and Literature and career counsellor in the Job Info centre, she has been in charge of informing and educating young people about career planning.

"Through individual and group counselling and workshops, she provides information and helps young people get to know themselves, define their goals and identify their career development priorities, as well as make decision with regard to the choice of school, university studies, or a job. She specialised in competency assessment and interviewing the candidates with the goal to facilitate the primary selection for the companies who are searching for competent and skilled labour force", the FB page of the Job Info centre reads.

Lazić said that she has been working in the Job Info centre since 2021 and, when asked why he chose to work in this centre, she said:

“Because, even though it is not directly connected with my formal education, that job is nevertheless connected with the education, namely a modern approach to the education through non-formal education. It is an innovative profession which is very important nowadays considering that the youth need support and guidance. Moreover, in this job one needs continuous upskilling and learning, which is a great benefit in my opinion.”

What is your experience when it comes to working with youth?

“Before this job I had opportunity to work with youth as a school teacher. However, working with youth in the Job info centre is something completely different. Within career counselling, young people are addressed individually and in a dedicated manner. Therefore, you can really get to know each of them individually and support them in the best way possible. Every career counselling is a process and thus young people come to us several times, at different points of their career, and in that way a relationship of trust is created with career counsellors. Consequently, the level of the service is very high. Working with young people is really nice, particularly when you know that you are really supporting them in making major life decisions”, Lazić said.

What are your further plans?

“In the coming period we will continue our work the same as before. After the holidays, we started group career counselling in schools, and we continued with individual career counselling sessions in our career centre. In the coming period the focus will be on the quality of the service. We now offer new tools, such as personality test or WR headset, and we hope that this will further facilitate career decision making for young people”, Mila Lazić said.
