E2E Story - CGC in Trstenik among the grammar school students

Kruševac: Career guidance and counselling, which is available within the framework of the Education to Employment programme, was presented to the students attending third or fourth year of “Vuk Karadžić“ Grammar School in Trstenik.

A part of these young people knows what they want to do after they finish secondary school, but a lot of them are still undecided. They all agree that career guidance and counselling would be of benefit for them, and that they have heard interesting and specific information at this workshop.

Anđela Gavrić is in the third year. Her thoughts with regard to further education and career development vary:

“After secondary school I plan to reskill for a nurse and then go abroad. If I change my mind in this regard, I will most probably study social work and social policy, web design, or take up neo-Hellenic studies.“

As she said, the workshop in which she took part was useful to her, exactly for the reason that she is so undecided.

Vanja Vuković, also a third-year student of the Grammar School, would like to study the German language. Even though she has made her decision with regard to continuing the education, she said that she feels grateful for the workshop.

Their friend of the same age Marta Miljković feels sure that she will talk with the career counsellor again so as to obtain some additional information.

“I plan to go to the Faculty of Medicine, but I am still undecided as to in what town I am going to study. I am sure that i will see the counsellors again.“

According to what the Job info centre career counsellor of the Educational Centre Kruševac Aleksa Pavlović said, the workshop in Trstenik gathered together about 130 students attending third and fourth year in the above-mentioned school.

“We talked to young people about the criteria they should take into account when making an informed career choice. We talked with those who would like to continue their education about how they arrived to that decision, and with those who would like to enter the realm of labour we talked about the reasons for taking that option“, Pavlović told us.

This was the opportunity for the young people to, through a survey, declare themselves as to what type of career guidance and counselling they need: whether it is an individual talking session, testing, or some other service.

“We already have about 40 students who expressed interest for individual career guidance and counselling, which will be designed and implemented taking into account the dilemmas they have. Based on the final findings of the survey, we will know what specific activities we will have with them in the coming period“, the career counsellor from Kruševac Job info centre said.
