From Education to Employment in Shanghai: SkillCompass at the Skills CoLab of WorldSkills Conference 2026
Belgrade, September 2026 — The team behind the “From Education to Employment” (E2E) project will present SkillCompass — a career guidance model developed in Serbia in partnership with the Swiss company gateway.one and with the support of Switzerland — at the Skills CoLab, part of WorldSkills Conference 2026, taking place in Shanghai from 23 to 25 September. The team invites partners and colleagues from across vocational education, career guidance, youth employment and skills development to book a meeting and explore Serbia’s experience.
A model built through international partnership
SkillCompass is the result of a four-partner consortium, supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC):
- JOB INFO Center Association — a network of 11 centres across Serbia;
- Infostud — Serbia’s largest job-matching platform;
- gateway.one — a Swiss company specialising in science-based diagnostic tools;
- NIRAS International Consulting — lead implementer of the E2E project.
Switzerland’s contribution sits at the heart of the concept: the diagnostic tools were developed by gateway.one, while the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation supports the model’s development and rollout in Serbia.
What we bring from Serbia
At the Skills CoLab we will present the practice developed through the E2E project:
- Science-based tools — WayFi, IdentyFi and Basic Check, developed by the Swiss company gateway.one — assessing vocational interests, competencies and personality traits;
- Trained career counsellors across 11 Job Info Centres, who translate diagnostic results into personalised guidance;
- A direct link to real labour-market needs, ensuring career guidance responds to concrete employer and industry demand.
The model’s strength lies in combining digital diagnostics with human support: technology delivers precision, while counsellors provide personalised guidance. To date, tens of thousands of young people in Serbia have used the tools.
