Companies contribute to the development of proposed occupational standards

Workshops bringing together company representatives and employees were held in Belgrade on 22, 24 and 25 September to support the development of proposed occupational standards in the transport sector.

The workshops were organised as part of the support provided by the From Education to Employment – E2E project to Serbia’s Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs in developing proposed occupational standards and enhancing the National Standard Classification of Occupations.

During three focus-group sessions, representatives of the business community and industry experts shared their practical experience on the tasks and duties, as well as other circumstances in which the following occupations are performed:

  • motor vehicle mechanic
  • transport manager
  • road transport engineer
  • road transport technician
  • transport dispatcher
  • bus driver
  • truck driver

The workshops form part of broader research aimed at developing proposed standards for a total of 30 occupations in transport, logistics and construction. The direct involvement of employers and employees helps ensure that the proposed standards reflect the realities of the workplace, current labour-market needs and changes in how jobs are organised and performed.

Special thanks go to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce for helping establish contact with participating companies and providing the workshop venue.

Since 2021, the From Education to Employment – E2E project has developed proposed standards for 33 occupations included in the national occupational codebook, covering hospitality, manufacturing, energy, information and communication technologies, and career guidance and counselling.
