Workshop in Novi Sad explored ethical principles and sustainable career guidance services
The Education to Employment (E2E) project and the Agency for Qualifications of the Republic of Serbia organised a workshop in Novi Sad on 8 October 2026 entitled “The Career Guidance and Counselling Ecosystem – Ethical Principles and Sustainable Services”. It brought together career guidance practitioners from the employment system and the youth sector to exchange experience on the quality and continuity of career guidance and counselling services.
Participants discussed the newly developed ethical principles for career guidance practitioners. Group work focused on working with service users, responsible practice and work in the community. The discussion addressed the clarity of the proposed principles, challenges in applying them and ways to improve them.
The workshop also covered individualized support for people participating in active labour market measures provided by the National Employment Service. Representatives of the employment and youth sectors then examined how career guidance services are organized, what makes continuity difficult and what support practitioners need. They shared experience on practitioner competencies, access to training and opportunities for continuing professional development.
For E2E, a joint project of the Swiss and Serbian governments, the workshop continued its work to further develop career guidance and counselling services at local and national levels. Together with the Agency for Qualifications, we will keep engaging with the practitioners who deliver these services so that people can access quality support when making decisions about education, training and employment.
