E2E Story - JIC provides invaluable help to youth
26.02.2024 Niš Career guidance and counselling Workshop
Niš: Career counsellors of the Job Info centre (JIC) in Niš said that, in view of the fact that more often than not they are not sure how to define their skills and competences, it means really a lot to young people that they know that there exists this Centre in Niš where, among other things, they can always ask to get free-of-charge assistance in writing a CV.
"Group workshops in schools are the best way to inform young people about the services we offer in our Centre, considering that, after attending a workshop, most students express interest in our individual counselling sessions and some of the tools we use in our work", career counsellor Aleksandra Ignjatović stressed. She added that cooperation with Law-Business school in Niš has been maintained since the Centre was founded in 2022.
Within our further cooperation, since the beginning of 2024, JIC Niš held a number of career guidance and counselling workshops in the Law-Business School. According to the information provided by career counsellors, approximately 100 fourth-year students attended.
"The topic of workshops was the continuation of education, making of career decisions and choosing a profession. With some of the classes we had opportunity to also address the topic of gender roles and what is their impact when it comes to choosing their future profession. We were interested to know whether they believe that there exist typically male and typically female professions, to what extent they are capable of recognising gender prejudice in themselves, and how these prejudices influence their career choice making”, we were told in JIC Niš.
Considering that workshops are interactive, it is discussed with the students how they make decisions with regard to the continuation of our career. What factors have impact on this process and how JIC can help them if they have any dilemma and are sure what university study to take or what profession to practice in the future.
"We also talked about how to write a CV, or how to present themselves to their future employer in the best way possible."
We learnt in the Centre that the Law-Business School recognised the importance of the services offered by JIC. According to what they said, in the coming period they intend to organise in that school the testing of students using the Basic Check test to verify their competences and affinities, which is an integral part of the competency assessment process.
