Strengthening Serbia’s Career Guidance Ecosystem: Focus on Ethics and Sustainable Services
Belgrade, 23 April 2026 — A professional workshop dedicated to strengthening the career guidance and counselling (CGC) ecosystem in Serbia was held in Belgrade, focusing on ethical principles for career practitioners and the sustainability of CGC services. The workshop gathered career practitioners from primary and secondary schools from Belgrade and surroundings and was organized by the Education to Employment (E2E) project in cooperation with the Qualifications Agency of the Republic of Serbia.
The main objective of the workshop was to stimulate professional dialogue on improving the quality, accessibility, and long-term sustainability of career guidance services.
During the first part of the workshop, participants explored newly developed ethical principles guiding the work of career practitioners, including responsible practice, working with clients, and the role of career guidance professionals within communities. Through moderated group discussions, participants shared feedback and suggestions on how these principles can be strengthened and applied in everyday practice.
The second part of the workshop focused on sustainable CGC services, using an interactive “World Café” format. Participants discussed current practices, challenges, and potential solutions in three key areas:
- organization of CGC services in schools
- training and professional development of career practitioners
- tools and instruments used in career guidance work
The discussions highlighted the importance of cross-sector cooperation, continuous professional development, and access to quality tools and methodologies for strengthening career guidance services.
Career guidance and counselling play a critical role in helping young people and adults understand their strengths, make informed career decisions, and develop the skills needed for navigating an increasingly dynamic labour market.
The workshop represents another step toward building a coordinated, sustainable, and high-quality career guidance system in Serbia that connects education, employment, and community support services.
