E2E on the international training in Loznica
Šabac: The representatives of Šabac Job Info centre stayed in Loznica on the 20th of February of current year and implemented four individual career guidance and counselling sessions within the YEES Erasmus+ programme.
The reason for this event was an international training which was at the same time an opportunity to present the “Education to Employment“ project and the employment related situations in Serbia.
Taking part in the training were youth leaders from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Albania and Serbia, and youth employment was the topic.
“We presented what we have learnt about the challenges encountered by young people, how much they understand the labour market, how much they effectively present themselves well to the employer“, career counsellor Gordana Mandić Radosavljević, who moderated these sessions, said.
How to write a good CV, to prepare themselves for an interview with employer, how important it is to make personal progress in order to maintain or get specific positions – all these are the questions which the representatives of the E2E programme from Šabac shared with young people in Loznica.
“We particularly talked about how education helps the individuals prepare themselves for the labour market, and the reason for this was that young people in our country are rather unprepared for this moment“, a career counsellor said.
As a consequence of young people’s lack of preparedness when they start on their career, employers are mostly dissatisfied with their attitude towards work – punctuality, seriousness in assuming work tasks, the importance of what they are doing – all these are important business segments which are not complied with by young people who lack motivation and thus frequently change jobs and do not keep at a single job.
There was also talk about the tools used in the career guidance and counselling process – competency flashcards for two virtual professions: forklift operator and welder, were presented, as well as the Basic Check – an online tool for competency assessment and guidance of users towards specific professions.
The attendees also had the opportunity to learn about the existing tools on the Education to Employment website.
The talks with the young people from the region continued in the direction of self-employment and the opportunities for their entrepreneurial empowerment, for which the representatives of the Job info centre said that it is an important moment of their engagement and dedication for personal development and progress.
“I especially liked the visual method – the Canvas business model, a career plan development method. It is a tool that is very useful for composing one’s own plan“, one of the training participants said.
“This training is very useful to me and I will share whatever I learn with my friends in the Grammar School because I believe that we need to remain in our country and that through hard work we can contribute to the quality of our life“, Bojana M. from Loznica said.
When it comes to employment, initial experiences of young people from the region are very similar and they depend on their engagement to work on themselves as well as on the opportunity to, with the help of the programme such as this one, obtain the information relevant for their career.
